A project of the Initiative Legacy of Dr. Vera Martha Winitzky de Spinadel for the youth
Philosophy and objective: Quoting Dr. Vera W. de Spinadel: The main aim of my work is to convene mathematicians, architects, engineers, designers and experts from different areas of knowledge interested in the interaction between Mathematics and Design. I use the word “Design” in its broadest sense; meaning, a Design is a project resource which constitutes a basic element in the interdisciplinary communication between human beings, let it be architectonic, graphic, visual or sounding type, as well as any other simple or combined type.
Vera Martha Winitzky de Spinadel (August 22, 1929 – January 26, 2017, Buenos Aires, Argentina) was an Argentine mathematician. She has got her PhD as first woman in Mathematic at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1958. Between 2010 and 2017, she was Full Emeritus Professor at the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urban Planning of the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 1995, she was designed Director of the Centre of Mathematics and Design. In April 2005, she inaugurated the Laboratory of Mathematics & Design, University Campus in Buenos Aires. Since 1998 to her death she was the President of the International Mathematics and Design Association. that organizes international congresses every 3 years and publishes a Journal of Mathematics & Design. She was the author of more than 10 books and published more than 100 research papers. Dr. Spinadel was a leader in the field of Metallic mean in the development of the classical Golden Ratio got wide international recognition.
